If frequently assumed that civic areas are antonyms with crime and that the further an area becomes civic the more the rate of crime increases. It’s against this background that this exploration is presumed. We should know that the dynamics of urbanization can beget rapid-fire changes in the rate of crime in an area. Also its evaluation of the effectiveness of the police as a major form of crime control( both in reporting and bridling crime) was carried out.

Chapter One

Preface

Background Of The Study

Urbanization dynamics with the physical power and forces of pulling a large number of people to come permanently concentrated in a fairly small area of forming metropolises as a result of large number of people migrating in hunt of greener pasturage.

The arrival of industrilazation marks a great turn in mortal resistence, it being the acecendent that has brought tremendrous in every aspect of mortal social life the tip of industrialization is double faceted, one of which is being vital in the development or economics, attainment of political poer and general changes in socil artistic life, artificial area are frequently view as the epitome of good living attrate a high flux of people in hunt of green pasturage. still industrialzation is a major cause of the myriad of social problem that have been draw in mortal societies to this crime which is one of major social problem that pervate our society is relatively material to tthe study.

For the decades experimenters have carried out studies on the prevalence of crime. They hyave tried to explain why crime ismore current in certain place that others. In concordiance with this, studies have frequently suspected that crime is predominant in civic areas, still the features aligns with civic areas show that they’ve intendency to have further frequent occurences of crime. Features similar as the high population, the high position of inequalities, interogeneous natures of the resisdent. The social control medium among others. The field or sociology has been nominated civic crime studies. It invovle the scientific study of crime in civic- area and stretches across measuring the frequncies of crime cases in civic area using available data handed by statistics agencies or police report, the demographic features similar as population size and viscosity. The immigration/ emmigration and also the socio- profitable and culture factors. The factors mentioned are instrumented in abetting experimenters view the pattren of an area assuming status and the putatively commensurate position of crime.

Statement Of The Problem

Civic life is generally depicted with negativity stemming from the words of red field civic sociology therefore supposition can not be regarded as far- brought. The social relationship in civic areas can nearly be set at zerotolerance.individuls are tooengroossed in securig there introductory requirements and any other exertion is supposed assecondary.the problem of crime in civic sociologies asadispline.urban residers live with crime every day, from non violence acquainted crimes like rape, armd thievery andmurder.also the magpie use of hard medicine is getting relatively habitual among the youthful people in the civicareas.with these mentiond, the question also ariess that are there no way in which crime in civic ares can be checked? In pastoral systems social control medium are substantially informled in nature( however there are still formal medium present) since pastoral communites are veritably homogeneous individals can be dissuaded from crime when they’re apprehensive that someone close to them might discover any acts of crime they commits. That’s the nearly larit relationship similar as immediate family members, the extended family and the other relations acting as a third eye and at the same time serving as a check on their conditioning.

still in civic area the reverse is the case, the miscellaneous nature of the occupant caused by a near compulsive drive to achieve the mainstream faucets( which is the accession of wealth was diminishes any aspect or this informal fform of social control and indeed if there was it would be as it’s most minimum.

The control of crime is now left to the formal agents or social control, which is substantially the police. The primary precedence of the police is to secure and cover the lives and property of the citizens. A rather rhetoric question can also proposed, “ how far have the police gone in fighting and cubing crime to a considerable position? ” this question can be regardedas rhetoric considering the fact that the police in some cases are the prepetrators of the problem in question crime. They’ve been know to carry out their jutics in stripes of violence( reffered to as police brutality) exacting the crowd and forming alliances with felonious gangs.

Objects Of The Study

This exploration is basically a descriptive one, bearing in mind that preliminarily a bit of expansive exploration has gone onto the issue of crime in civic areas. It’s assumed that civic areas are synonymous with crime and that the further reason an area becomes the position of crime increases. We shall essay to have a more lucid perspective of this, bluffing with the “ Ibara ” community of abeokuta south original government as our study area. The following will be the ideal of this work;

Our first ideal will be aimed at showing a relationship between the chute urbanization of an area an a relative increase in crime.

Secondly to ascertain the effectiveness of the polic in reporting and controlling crime in Ibara.

Thirdly to find out of the occupant of Ibara on crime control bynthe original police force.

Fourthlyin the view of the depredating standard in the control of crime by the police we intend to find out if the relinquishment ofnon-formal forms of crime control by the residers are effective.

Eventually we shall be earning result to the stated problems.

Defense Of The Study

Since there’s endless rise in the rate in the rate of urbanizing areas which would always beget a rise in crime. This reseach will give us a better understanding on the complications girding crime as respects to civic growth. In substance as an area assumes civic status more measure will be put in place to cub the formerly anticipated increase incrime. It’ll help to requital the lukewarm nature through which the police reports and flight crime. It proper attestation of crime is more concentrated also the frequence of reported crime would help the police know how important force and time would be neededed for further effective crime fighting.

Eventually the exploration aims to shows the significance of indispensable styles of cubing crime similar as vigilante groups.
