Design And Implementation Of An Nysc Information System

1.1 Background of the Study

The National Youth Service Corps( NYSC) is a programme that involves Nigerian graduates in the development and integration of their country. The scheme covers a one yearprogrammewhere graduates are posted aimlessly within the country to serve their fathers land with all industriousness and nationalism. Every time more than 5,000 fraternity members are stationed to each state for one yearservice. This deployment is in three( 3) batches videlicet batches A, B andC. BatchesA and B fraternity members are generally more in number while batch C fraternity members arefewer.

Out of this number some will dislocate from the state they’re stationed toanother state because of certain reasons like connubial status and health condition.

Corps members should be posted to metropolises and countries far from their homes and countries of origin. They’re anticipated to mix with people of other lines, social and family backgrounds, to learn the culture of the aborigines in the place they’re posted to. It’s a way to engender concinnity in Nigeria, to help youths appreciate other ethnical groupings in the country. During the one time period of service, there’s an “ exposure ” period of roughly three weeks which is spent in a camp down from family and musketeers. Within these three weeks period of exposure camp, fraternity members suffer trainings( physical and emotional education) to prepare them for the taskahead. They validate their enrollment before the camp, they’re needed to give some necessary documents before they could be completely registered for the camp. This internal enrollment is done manually and generally stressful for the fraternitymembers.Only fraternity members who register before the deadline( generally 12 night on the third or fourth day depending on the duration of the exposure) are allowed to share in the exposure exercise. Within this period, they generally face with the trouble of getting the right information at the right time and also locating the camp region and having all necessary documents at hand.
