Design And Implementation Of Web-based School Management System

 

Abstract

 

This design work automates academy operation system. In the system two operations are developed, Windows grounded( thick customer) and Web grounded( thin customer).

 

The windows operation takes utmost of the conditioning similar as offline pupil registering, paraphrase and report card generation and producing the schedule. The web operation facilitates attendance recording by the homeroom preceptors, to view status of scholars by their parents and to view reports by kebele and kifle- ketema education office officers.

 

Our result of the schedule is veritably simple. In the high academy considered for the design there are ten subjects for both grade nine and grade ten. Loads are assigned to each subject schoolteacher and a law is given for each schoolteacher- subject combination. A simple hunt fashion has been used during allocation of each schoolteacher- subject law to a time niche. A database has been used to apply constraints and to store data.

 

The prototype has been tested with data from Kokebe Tsebah Secondary academy. It has been observed that the system successfully registers scholars, facilitates attendance recording by the home room preceptors and generates colorful reports similar as report card, paraphrase and a doable schedule satisfying the constraints( conditions). It has also been shown that the system facilitates to view the status of scholars by their parents using the Internet or Intranet of the academy.

Background

 

Education system forms the backbone of every nation. And hence it’s important to give a strong educational foundation to the youthful generation to insure the development of open- inclined global citizens securing the future for everyone. Advanced technology available moment can play a pivotal part in streamlining education- related processes to promote solidarity among scholars, preceptors, parents and the academy staff.

 

Education is central to development. It’s one of the most important instruments for reducing poverty and inequality and lays a foundation for sustained profitable growth. With this end presently our government has given special emphasis to the educational sector and academy enhancement conditioning similar as nonstop professional development for preceptors, training and elevation preceptors and capacitating seminaries with force and accoutrements are among the major conduct which have been taken in both primary and secondary seminaries. In order to grease and simplify these conduct one of the major tool is to have automated academy operation system.

 

School Management System( SMS) consists of tasks similar as registering scholars, attendance record keeping to control absentees, producing report cards, producing sanctioned paraphrase, preparing schedule and producing different reports for preceptors, parents, officers from kebele or kefle ketema education divisions and other stakeholders.

By automating SMS documents that took up numerous large storehouse apartments can be stored on many disks. Paraphrase images can be annotated. It reduces the time to recoup old reiterations from hours to seconds. still, the academy system in the government seminaries of Addis Ababa isn’t automated and the record officers induce reiterations and reports manually and the academy directors use their educated knowledge of miss and hit approaches to prepare calendars.

 

Statement of the Problem

 

To help promote scholars achievement and success, seminaries must have access to complete, accurate, and timely information about scholars. One of the benefits of automated SMS is that the pupil record system will simplify reclamation of required information and is a great instrument for academy enhancement by taking measures from the information acquired. Despite the use of automated SMS, the government seminaries in Addis Ababa are using paper grounded attestation system for performing colorful tasks and the academy directors apply their knowledge of megahit and miss approach in scheduling classes and courses( preparing the schedule) which wastes force and important time unnecessarily that doesn’t use the current technology.

 

Reiterations of scholars are set manually by the record officer and preceptors. Report cards are produced by the home- room preceptors. Attendance of scholars is recorded by the home- room preceptors. In order to control absentees and know the number of days that a pupil has been absent from the academy during the academy days the attendance officer has to collect the attendance slips from the corresponding homeroom preceptors and collect it which is also a time taking process. In addition to that retrieving records of scholars who have graduated couple of times ago has been a delicate task and the homemade system also has difficulty of producing different reports which are needed by the stakeholders similar as preceptors, directors or officers from kebele and kifle- ketema.

It has been delicate to search a record from thousands of similar records and observed that scholars can take any person claiming that he she is their parent or exigency person which creates problem in control of scholars.

 

Due to the inefficiency of the current homemade system, the need arises to automate SMS in order to efficiently handle scholars ’ attendance, to produce paraphrase, report cards and the colorful reports satisfying druggies and guests and to produce schedule which can record courses for preceptors and classes of scholars.

Organization of the Document

 

This report document contains seven chapters including this chapter. Chapter two defines and describes generalities with regard to SMS, aiming to give a general view to the anthology of the document about tasks or conditioning which need robotization in the academy terrain. Chapter three presents review of exploration workshop on SMS. In chapters four and five, we presented the analysis and design of the advanced system independently. In the remaining chapters, prototype development and conclusion and recommendations are compactly explained.
