DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A WEB-BASED STUDENT COMPLAINT SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

As the complexity and number of complaints among students on campus increase, a well-structured software with a good database will be required to assist lecturers and school officials in combating this trend; a computerized complaint system will provide a solution on this issue. This software is designed to respond to student concerns, which are addressed by the proper authority. The software has three sections: Student Login, Student Register, and The Administrator Session.

The Complaint record contains information about any complaint submitted by the user (the student) and is viewable by the Administrator, who forwards the complaints to the appropriate school authority. The Student Login requires the student to log into the program before filing a complaint; the Student Register is a form that collects the student’s information before he or she can use the system; and the Administrator is in charge of the system and has access to all submitted Complaints. The goal of developing this program is to create a computerized complaint system that allows students to file complaints or report any wrongdoing on campus, which will be handled by a professional administrator who will forward the complaints to the relevant body.

INTRODUCTION

The computer has become universally acknowledged as an unusually competent and well-defined aide.

Now, researchers have created an altogether new type of computer program that functions as an assistant, capable of discovering sensible solutions to problems for which there may be no clear and fast “right” answers.

It should come as no surprise, then, that practically all tasks that could previously be completed manually may now be completed with a single click of the computer keyboard. At this stage, one might define a complaint system as software that collects and stores student complaints in the same way that a human expert would save a complaint about no light in the dormitory or how a lecturer wants to extort money from them in order for them to complete a course. This program will be built to listen to the medical problems of students.

In general, a computerized complaint system can collect complaints, store them, and these records are acquired by the proper authority, who then decides on the next step in resolving the difficulties.

Computer software has traditionally used an algorithmic or procedural approach to problem resolution; in other words, a rigorous step-by-step approach. As a result, its system has been designed with the best instruments to keep the students’ data, which can be retrieved at any moment.

1.1 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

During the project’s analysis and data collection, it was discovered that there was a manual method of collecting and storing student complaints in order for them to be addressed and stored for future use by the University of Uyo’s Students Affairs Department.

That is to say, the process of everyday tasks and activities is done manually, which is extremely unpleasant; manual procedures cause execution delays and lower the quality of the output.

Many setbacks to the expected standard have resulted from manual complaint record keeping. Among the difficulties encountered are:

Long quarries and time waste.

File or document loss, either partial or complete.

Criminal analysis is now being recorded.

Exposed confidential information.

Inefficiency of some staff workers owing to laziness in searching for files.

Because of these issues, the manual system of complaints record information storage, entry, and retrieval is exceedingly clumsy: inefficient and ridiculous.

1.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

To create computerized complaint software to carry out tiresome human job and activities in which they end up misplacing and deleting some crucial files and student data. However, if this (computerized complaint system) is installed, it will provide a solution to this case.

1.3 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The system’s primary goals and objectives are as follows:

To create a web-based complaint system, record, and information system to replace some of the human function in times of job insecurity.

To respond quickly to student complaints on campus.

Furthermore, the goal of this software is to simulate a computerized complaint system in order to facilitate proper complaint submission and control.
