Abstract

Online examination systems are being used by an ever- adding number of institutions to help reduce time insufficiency, cost, test malpractices similar as impersonation and other unethical test- related exercises that take place in utmost independent and public examinations. In this study, an explanation of how online examination systems are related to some traditional or homemade grounded analysis, and ways are presented and how online examination systems help institutions increase the effectiveness of result generation. The design describes colorful limitations of current system styles and discusses possible results that can ameliorate online examination system and makes it applicable to an indeed broader range of institutions. This design was carried out using tools like php to develop the frontal end and mysql for the aft end of the software- online examination system. Evaluation of the design rigorously shows that the software system can reduce 50 of the present examination malpractices problem in the current homemade system.

Background Of The Study

Online Examination System is a web base operation that establishes a network between an institution and campaigners or scholars. Institutes enter on the point and input questions they want in the examination, these questions are displayed as a test to the eligible scholars. The answers enter by the scholars are also estimated and their score is calculated and saved. This score also can be penetrated by the institutes to determine the number of scholars that passes the examination and estimate their performance. Online examinations are conducted through the internet or in an intranet if within the Organization to test a remote seeker. seeker is given a limited time to answer the questions and after the time expiry the answer paper is impaired automatically and answers is transferred to the monitor. Online Examinations System provides a platform to elect eligible seeker out of multitudinous seeker that share in an examination. The institution has an director who keeps an eye on the overall functioning of the system.

The online examinations system is operation software, which aims at furnishing services to the institution with an option of opting the eligible scholars or seeker without any politics or partiality. Online examinations are conducted through the internet or in an intranet( if within the Organization) to test a remote seeker. seeker is given a limited time to answer the questions and after thetime expiry the answer paper is impaired automatically and answers is transferred to the monitor. The monitor will estimate answers, either through automated process or manually and the results will be transferred to the seeker through dispatch or made available in the web point. Online examination system will help to estimate pupil’s achievement, and helps to give fair scores. The main ideal of Online Examination System is to efficiently estimate the seeker completely through a completely automated system that not only saves lot of time but also gives fast results. For preceptors, it would give inflexibility to fit their requirements and to the scholars there will be no loss in time for the need of using redundant thing like paper, pen etc. This system also focuses on how to give a secure terrain for Online Examination.

In this study, Yabatech has been chosen as the case study. Examination in Yabatech is conduct manually. During examination scholars always looking for center, due to this some pupil who aren’t familiarize with the academy structure miss the examination. Every morning before the examination commence, the academy will bury each examination center on the notice board.

Statement Of The Problem

Yaba College of Technology is a one of the leading tertiary institution in Nigeria, and every time numerous seeker are apply to the institution and examination is conducted manually i.e. paper base system for the entrance examination and the academy examination. Due to this homemade examination process, every semester result is always delayed towards the coming semester examination. This homemade process of conducting examinations has led to some problems in Yabatech. These includes the following

· Delay in releasing of result.

· Examination malpractice.

· Changing of result.

· scholars meeting speaker for help.

· inadequate question paper and answer distance in the examination hall.

Purpose Of The Study

The purpose of this system is to annihilate the homemade operation and to reduce the costs associated with conducting examination in YABATECH, and to achieve total robotization of examination process, to give online installation examination for YABATECH.

Ideal Of The Study

Online examination system will improves the conduct of examination in Yaba College of Technology. The ideal of this system includes

Online examination system will be of benefit to pupil and Yabatech. This system will reduce the cost of conducting examination in Yabatech. With this system, Yabatech will witness free and fair examination. scholars are suitable to pierce their result on time. The system will help scholars to maximize their implicit since they know that the examination is computer grounded and there will be no infidelity.
